Do something new
It doesn’t necessarily have to be something huge. Even taking a different route home will change things up a little bit.
Do something physical. Go to the gym or just go for a jog. Whatever you do though, do it for your own body. Don’t do it because of pressure to lose weight or to look how society wants you to look. Do it because you want to challenge yourself and push yourself beyond your limits.
Consider the problems of others
This will get your mind off your own issues, combat your self interest, and put things into perspective.
Believe that you can
This is the first step to anything. It may sound cliche, but if you don’t think you can, you won’t.
Even if things are going terribly, force yourself to smile for 30 seconds. It won’t take away your problems but psychology tells us that just the act of smiling can shift your mood.
Be open with someone
Don’t internalize things. Find someone you trust and be open with them. You don’t need them to solve your problems, but getting an issue off of your chest is the first step to feeling a lot better.
You don’t have to do everything that everybody asks of you. You can’t. It’s ok to say no to things.
Gratitude should be a daily routine. Even just a thank you to the post man will change your outlook.
Drink water, eat fruit, do things that are good for you body. It will make you feel a lot better.
Look people in the eyes
When someone is talking to you, do your best to show them that you are present and listening. They will appreciate it immensely.
Live in the now
Even if you have to stop and count your breaths, try to live in the present. Be aware of things going on around you and stop dwelling on the past.
Anger and frustration will actually shorten your life span. Forgive people and move on with your life. It’s easier to live that way.
Talk to a stranger
There is an entire world of interesting people out there. Go meet one of them.
Care about people
You don’t have to like someone to care about them. Sometimes when you force yourself to do something nice for someone it will begin to adjust the way you feel.
Whether it’s facebook or twitter, get away from it. Stop living in a virtual world and take some time to be present.
Don’t take life so seriously all the time. It will destroy you.
Find something that you’ve been meaning to do for a while and do it. Take charge of your life.
Take a moment to dream
You don’t want to spend your whole day in the clouds, but a few moments won’t hurt anything.
Do something for somebody
It may be as small as carrying the groceries for your mom, but those small things can make big changes.
Forget the past
To move forward you have to face forward. Don’t let the past keep dragging you down.
Tell a joke or two
Whether it’s after a hard day of work or first thing in the morning, even if you don’t feel like it, telling a joke and making someone laugh can change your outlook instantly.
Improve on yesterday
If you walked 1 mile yesterday, walk 2 today. Always strive to improve and push yourself.
You don’t always have to be doing stuff. It’s ok to not do anything sometimes. Not always, but sometimes.
